What is Neumann Gruppe USA?

Neumann Gruppe USA is a U.S. company of Neumann Kaffee Gruppe (NKG), a third-generation global leader in green coffee with a network of farms, importers, exporters, mills, representative offices and services, all following green coffee from mountaintop to tabletop.

Unlike other commodity trading houses, NKG and its companies proudly focus on just one thing: coffee. This singular focus drives our deep commitment to the future of coffee. We prioritize designing the best possible processes along the supply chain — always with social, environmental and economic considerations at the core of our business model.

Along with trusted partners, NKG is invested in traceable and certified coffees, as well as sustainability-focused projects that we’ve developed, implemented, manage and measure.

As green coffee importers, the three divisions of NG USA offer deep expertise and the full spectrum of global green coffee offerings. Whatever your needs, our teams can confidently help you find the ideal solution. To learn more about our services, our projects and how we can support your goals, please get in touch.

How are Atlas Coffee Importers, InterAmerican Coffee and Rothfos related?

Atlas Coffee Importers, InterAmerican Coffee and Rothfos are divisions of Neumann Gruppe USA. They operate as distinct business units, and while they share a commitment to sustainability, integrity and service, each brings unique strengths and expertise to the group.

The three divisions also share the support services of NG USA, which helps to create cost efficiencies and communication channels that further benefit our clients.

The wider NKG network — which consists of 40-plus companies across 28 countries — also provides Neumann Gruppe USA with access to local expertise, critical insights and every type of coffee and coffee relationship.

Where are you located?

The Neumann Gruppe USA headquarters is located at 111 River St., Suite 1220, in Hoboken, NJ. The office is shared with Rothfos, as well as the East Coast team of InterAmerican Coffee.

InterAmerican Coffee also has offices in San Diego, Houston and Kansas City, and Atlas Coffee Importers is located in Edmonds, WA, a suburb of Seattle.

What does a green coffee importer do?

Green coffee importers play a vital role in the coffee supply chain by sourcing, transporting and supplying unroasted (i.e., green) coffee beans to roasters. Importers are the bridge between coffee producers and exporters in producing countries and coffee roasters around the world.

Importers also identify coffees from trusted producers, manage the complex logistics of international shipping and customs, and maintain a reliable inventory so that roasters can access the coffees they need, when they need them.

Additionally, we oversee quality control through sampling and cupping, ensuring the coffee that’s sampled and purchased is the coffee that’s received — and manage the ensuing conversations in instances when that isn’t the case.

For small-batch, artisan roasters and large-scale commercial roasters alike, green coffee importers can offer access to a diversity of origins, a range of prices, consistent quality, and logistical, financing and customer-support services.

Do you have any sustainability initiatives?

Absolutely! Neumann Kaffee Gruppe has two internal initiatives that support the future of green coffee supplies and are entwined in our business philosophy and strategy: NKG Bloom and NKG Verified.

NKG Bloom  is our initiative to ensure the future of green coffee supplies by offering smallholder farmers and farmer groups the opportunities and resources they need to run their farms at full potential, optimize their incomes for long-term success and enter pathways out of poverty.

Through dedicated teams within our export companies, NKG Bloom identifies and addresses barriers to farmer success and offers individuals and farmer groups bespoke combinations of services centered around financing.

Already changing lives in its first years of implementation, NKG Bloom’s goal is to meaningfully improve the livelihoods of 300,000 coffee-farming families across 10 countries by 2030.

NKG Verified provides traceable and sustainable coffees for green buyers, with ongoing supply-chain visibility and social, environmental and economic criteria confirmed by third-party auditors.

Still additionally, NG USA supports World Coffee Research; created a GrainPro recycling program for roasters; and works with other industry partners that are committed to a more sustainable coffee supply chain. Each of our Neumann Gruppe USA companies has cultivated decades-long relationships with producers, cooperatives and export companies and supports a number of projects and efforts through these groups at origin.
